Alopecia- is HAIR LOSS from the scalp and body.
Causes- There are many ways you can get alopecia, it could be hormones, age, illness or even genetics. Medication, stress or trauma can also cause alopecia.
Men experience male pattern baldness, which is Androgenetic Alopecia caused by genetic predisposition (DHT) dilhydrotestosterone which builds up around the hair follicles and stops HAIR GROWTH.
Women also experience HAIR LOSS and it's very common. Women typically experience less or THINNING HAIR all over.
Alopecia Areata- is spotty HAIR LOSS, resulting in smooth areas or patches. Women under thirty usually experience it and the cause is unknown.
Alopecia Universalis- is complete hair loss of the scalp and also body hair.
Traction Alopecia- is a gradual form of hair loss, when the hair is pulled tight for long periods of time, such as ponytails, braids and weaves.
Trichotillomania- (impulse-control disorder) a disorder that causes people to pull their hair out from the scalp. This can result in bald patches and occurs mostly in women and children.
Treatment- first look at the signs. Thinning or receding around the hairline and crown are signs of pattern baldness. Other conditions are patches. CANCER TREATMENTS that use radiation can also result in hair loss that affects the scalp.
Some hair loss cases can be altered by changing your eating habits, and eating healthier foods
or using less heat and doing more natural styles. Consulting with your doctor is good if medication
is causing your HAIR LOSS.
